It has come to my attention via way of courier pigeon and a nice man reporting that our Mr Brock of Service Power says that P&G now call the shots at UKW.
Can we put this to bed right now, in here, by saying that that is entirely untrue. And that the contract value being banded about is entirely incorrect also.
UKW is independent and will remain so.
Apart from which, my first thought was, what would PG be interested in gaining control of UKW for, it’s of no use bar the promotion of their own products and, without all of us onboard with that, it’s pretty much a dead duck. So bar perhaps in the area of detergents how does it affect the indpendence of UKW? And, what difference does it make, you could claim that any advertiser therefore had the right to steer any magazine, newspaper, website or organisation, which is of course preposterous in the extreme.
So another silly UKW rumour. To be fair after the tanking that they’ve taken and the fact that they lost the Littlewoods work to NESN, probably in no small part to our efforts, they’re probably pissed right off and are looking to discredit UKW. A very dangerous game to play with me.
I’ll wait a bit to allay any suspicion, but I will be having a bit of revenge for that dig.
