ParticipantI wonder if any of you guys have a Vodafone Sure Signal Box?
Vodafone coverage out here in the woods is crap at the best of times. In order to get a mobile phone call then it’s best to hang out of the bedroom window in order to ensure the call isn’t lost. So, I’ve invested in a Sure Signal box and amazingly it works, even in the wine cellar……err? well it did but only for an hour or two back last week. I reset it and it worked for another short period, then stopped.
I’ve just been on the phone to BT broadband tech dept and the guy remotely operated my PC in order to configured the correct port settings for my S/S box……It’s now working again…all clever stuff but based on my experience so far I’m not holding my breath. :rolls:
Any of you guys got a similar tale to tell I wonder, or is it just me again. 😐

We’ve used two of them Martin.
One was with John in Nottingham and the other with Dave in Exeter.
In all honesty, we’re not so sure that they actually worked all that well and didn’t get that much of a difference. That isn’t to say that they didn’t make any difference at all, just that they didn’t make that much of a difference.
Put it this way, they didn’t solve all the issues.
That said, we’ve also used 02 in both locations and both suffered the same issues with reception, dropped calls etc.

Tnks for that….when it works (and it’s working now OK) it is great. The range is around 30 metres so that pretty well covers all of my place indoors. And it gives full signal coverage within that range. Venture outside and the signal from the box halts but reverts to the normal cell coverage, which is useable, mostly. Step back inside and within a few seconds it switches back to the Sure Signal box again, full strength…excellent!
My problem has been getting the ruddy thing to work and fortunately both Vodafone AND BT have been very helpful but nevertheless it’s been a flippin’ hastle.
Not exactly what I would describe as ‘Plug in and Play’ by any means. :rolls:
It’s been working now for almost 2 hours…..will it keep it up I ask myself?
(Did I tell you about the probs I’m having on Tapatalk HD with my iPad………?Bl**dy technology gorn mad if you ask me. I go onto Tapa with it but just use the ‘browser’ function, that works fine, and I’d happily bin the other so called ‘features’.)

Update:
After hours on the phone to Vodafone tech AND a similar period with BT tech the Sure Signal box did eventually work OK, for about 3 days. 👿
Ages more talking with their respective tech depts to try and get it working failed miserably. Vodafone suggested they send me a new box whilst I demanded a full refund for what I paid for it (£50) and threatened also to leave Vodafone.
Vodafone were very understanding of my concerns and as a gesture of goodwill on their part have reduced my monthly phone rental by £4 and have credited my account for the cost of the Sure Signal box.
I’ve just received a prepaid returns bag in the post to send the duff box back to them….GOOD RIDENCE!!
So all in all I’ve done well out of the whole sad saga. My mobile phone signal at home has and, likely as not, will continue to be crap but I have a land-line anyway AND divert my incoming mobile calls to that number anyway….Que sera!
