ParticipantHi
I have a double socket connected to a 13amp fused one that I use for our washing machine & tumble dryer in kitchen which stopped working. I have tried changing the fuse & also changed the double socket unit itself to no avail. The only point I’d mention is that the old socket had two earth pints on each side whereas the new one i bought only had one (so I only connected one of those when replacing!).
It’s still not working!! Any other ideas to try before I call an electrician @xmas which will be very costly 😥

Eh ?? you may have a double socket but what do you mean by a 13a fused onethe fact the new socket has only one earth connection will not stop it working
have you checked your fuse box to see if any fuses have blown or tripped ?

Didn’t realise it was confusing!!
What I meant was that there’s a socket on/off switch with a removable fuse docket, this in turn is connected to the double socket (as that is inaccessible as it’s hidden behind the washing machine. And yes the first thing I did was check the fuse box & no issues there

are you talking about a spur box which is a fused switch. these are commonly used in kitchens to control inaccessible sockets for appliances to enable them to be isolated.
if it is a spur box. ( see picture) I assume you have removed the fuse and checked that.
after that most likely causes
1 faulty spur box, had one the other week that had burnt out round the back
2 faulty socket behind the machineI also note that you say this switch which is 13A feeds both your washer and your dryer. if you use both appliances together, when the washing machine is heating, you will be overloading the circuit
