Any kind help on this is most welcome.

Beko CDA653FX/1 upright ‘frost free’ fridge freezer 2009 model. Fridge and freezer both stopped cooling- not sure for how long but long enough for the food in the freezer to partially defrost. I emptied the freezer and the freezer started cooling again (down to -16 C) but the fridge stayed warmish (+11C). Looked on the internet for inspiration- took the back panel off inside the freezer and defrosted the evaporator coils with a hair drier- the upper half of the coils were well iced up but the fan was moving freely. I reassembled but then the compressor + fan refused to work. Overnight sometime the freezer switched on and was at running at -26C this morning (max setting on the fridge thermostat), with the fridge still around +11C . The metal back plate in the fridge was not very cool.
This unit has no forced cold air supply from the freezer to the fridge – the evaporator circuit seems to carry on from the freezer up into the fridge and do some cooling behind a metal panel (but not sure about that). There is just one thermostat knob in the roof of the fridge by the light and a control board accessible from the back of the fridge (no mechanical defrost timer which seems to be a problem on older units according to the internet). Is the unit on its way out maybe (not enough gas) or does the fridge part cool using a different gas circuit which is not working perhaps?
    Any ideas gratefully received.

It could be the problem with the thermistors. You could have them changed.I had a similar problem with the AGA fridge which I bought from best brand appliance the replacement of the thermistors was too much of a hassle for me so I sought professional help to have it replaced.
