Heating issue. Dishwasher will complete a cycle, it does heat the water early on in the cycle (can feel the heat on stainless steel draining board), but it is not as hot as it should be as when finished, the dishwasher is cold, no steam coming out, and dishes not dry like they used to be. My better half opened it a few nights ago mid cycle , and left it overnight (due to needing silence in the kitchen at the time!). However issue may have been happening before she did this but sharing in case is somehow related. Have tried turning off at wall for half an hour. Would replacing the turbidity sensor be worth a shot? Any suggestions welcomed. Thank you in advance

KeymasterZD26011WA doesn’t appear to be a valid model number.

KeymasterI would suspect the heater in it, you can test it for continuity with a multi meter, if it’s open circuit that’s your problem.

ParticipantThanks kwatt. Would a heater that still heats up during part of the cycle still be faulty? Assume there’s some sort of temperature switch in there maybe integrated with the heater? Thanks

KeymasterYou would expect it to work, or not with no in-between but without checking it and eliminating that as the problem there’s no way to be sure.
The temperature will be controlled by a thermistor or thermostat.

ParticipantThanks. Wouldn’t it be best to eliminate something else first though? If a heater typically fails and wouldn’t heat at all, why would I be best to start by eliminating that? Is there a way to test a thermostat ?

KeymasterI don’t know how it’s setup installation wise etc but if you consider your own logic, the heater should work or not, the water be hot or not.
If the control mechanism is telling it to heat, it heats, if not it won’t.
It’s very binary so when people say on things like this, that it sorta heats or not then it’s very often a wrong assumption. Sorry there’s no way to sugar coat that for you.
The only way is to investigate and determine the issue, there are no shortcuts. Hence saying to check the heater, not replace the heater.

ParticipantUnderstand thanks. It definitely does heat, as it gets hot at the beginning of the cycle as I can feel the top of the dishwasher and also have opened it and it steams. However at the end when it is meant to be hot when the door opens, it is cold. Before, the dishes would be hot to touch and dry. This is no longer the case

KeymasterThere’s no notes or anything that would support that, if the heater is kaput, it’s kaput and so far as I can tell it’s a single heating circuit and if it was gone I’d expect to see an error code.
Ditto if it didn’t heat anywhere, including on dry, you’d expect an error code.
The turbidity sensor is a red herring, that determines if the water is clean enough, if not rinse again, if okay proceed the program. It’s got nothing to do with heating. But in that model it’s a combined heat and turbidity sensor, this one where it performs double duty as both sensors in one. It’s possible that’s the problem but I couldn’t guarantee it.

Moderatorthe rinse temperatures are much lower than older units to save energy. the door is opened and they air dry using a combination of air and rinse aid
