Hello all. My first post on this very useful site. Cant find specific info I need hence this post.

Dishwasher failed to run after 7 years service. Made unusual “sawtooth” sound when last running successfully. Additional symptom was smell of hot electrics when stuck mid cycle.

Have checked controller pcb for burn marks / dry joints – none found, although I resoldered ones that looked suspect. Have ensured all pipes clear , and it is filling to correct level. Evacuation pumps out water OK, on pressing “reset” buttons. Programmer appears to be working normally.

Then found wash pump motor seized. The ball race at pump end of motor armature had siezed. Fitted replacement bearing, carefully re-assembled. Expectations dashed. It still sits there, filled, and heating OK, but wash pump motor wont run. However, the hot electrics smell has gone.

So, I am left with conclusions of

    a) Something got burnt out when the motor was aked to run but was seized. (Some relays click when I think the motor is asked to run).

    b) There is still something else I have not spotted that stops the wash pump motor from running.

Any advice very welcome at this stage.

Red Face dept – left the black wire off the motor! Motor now runs and cycle completes, but chamber is overheating. It seems the heater is staying on. I will trawl for information on this one at lunctime.
