    Siemens Extraklasse XLS 1400 WXLS143GB

Washer on this morning, started to fill but blew cb within 20 secs. Tried a few times with same result. Retired to think and suspected heater. Selected spin which worked normally and emptied machine. Have now found heater element but it is reluctant to split from housing (silicone, perhaps?) Got a reading of 25 ohms across element.
So a) Is it likely to be an element fault?
    b) Shall I try to force out element with screwdriver or chisel?
and c) where can I locate a new one if it is faulty?

Unfortunately our display became undecipherable about 3 years ago so no clue there. Would that be expensive or not worth the trouble to replace?

    All advice hugely appreciated!

The most likely suspect for sure.

Force a little too harsh a word, ease with a screwdriver after loosening the compression nut, a more constructive, less damaging approach. Leave the chisel for woodwork classes.

Martin – thank you. What cracking service!
Will a pattern element have the same life as OE (which is stainless)? Still, don’t want the washer to outlive me…………… You didn’t mention a price to replace the display unit – only parts of it seem to work. A used one would do.

The pattern element is an exact replacement and neither are stainless steel but rather a chromium copper alloy. To get a replacement display module I suggest you buy direct from Siemens own eShop or email Dave spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
