Hi, I’m blind and my washing machine has just been pronounced terminal. I’m having trouble tracking down a replacement because most machines on teh market seem to have electronic displays I can’t see.

Can anyone recommend a machine of good quality (that won’t breakdown as much as my last Hotpoint did) with a large capacity (I have a big and grubby household) that has knobs or buttons to control it which give tactile feedback (e.g. click into place) and which is not controlled using a screen or dial behind perspex?

I would prefer it if the machine could be silver or steel in colour (to fit in with my other appliances and kitchen colours) but to be honest this isn’t essential!

My last one was a washer dryer, but I think I have even less chance of finding an accessible one of those!

All help gratefully received, the washing machine companies seem to have stopped doing braille controls and I can’t track down the elusive “talking machine” I hear rumours about….

Thanks for suggestions, in the end I’ve been and had a feel of a few and opted for a good deal I found on a Siemens WM14S495 which Siemens & RNIB are going to braille up for me and which I can actually almost read the big print LED panel on!
