ParticipantHi,
I’ve read all the articles on washing machines on the site and found them most informative. Unfortunately we are not in a position where we can look at in excess of £600 for a decent model. It pains me to buy something that is in essence disposable and designed to be thrown away, but our last Hoover model has lasted 21 months so it doesn’t surprise me at all.
so, what I am really asking for is advice on the best bet for a £350 ish machine. Does it really matter? I know Samsung have a bit of a dodgy rep around here, but they do have 5 year warranty on parts and labour right now. Are they really that terrible? Is the customer service like pulling teeth?
I’ve looked at the Bosch machines in our range, but understand they’re not the same under the bonnet as the more expensive ones.
We need something of 6-7kg and has to be no deeper than 57cm.
I’m getting hassle from the wife about finding one quickly because we have a two year old boy, but I want to make the right decision.
Would going up a hundred quid make any difference in quality?
Many thanks for any advice you learned people can provide.
Dean

That’s the one I have open now. Is there any major difference between that one and the WM12Q390GB?

Just found the 14 for a great price here http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/Products/Appliances/Washing-Machine/SIEMENS/WM14Q390GB. Have you dealt with them at all?

I bought the machine. I really wish somebody had told me it needed securing to the floor with brackets. I have no idea how I am supposed to logistically do this under a work surface. does anyone have any tips?

Well, I levelled it and put it on and as soon as it started spinning it was jumping around like a crazy thing. Would that perhaps be due to the feet not being tightened?

Ah, that would appear to be my malfunction. Will I have done any damage?
I turned it off very quickly.

What you need to do is unplug the machine and read the installation instructions and the operating instructions, then install as per the instructions and hopefully no damage has been done.

Thanks. I honestly cannot believe I did that. As soon as you said it I knew. It’s not something I’ve done before!
