After some careful research I originally ear marked this washing machine

Bosch Exxcel WAQ28461GB – retailing between the £450-500 mark.

I am very aware and conscious about the buy cheap, buy twice motto. Money is tight and the wife is not keen on parting with this sort of money. She is thinking more in the region of £300-350. I am skeptical of machine quality when spending in this lower region.

What are your thoughts are there any machines around the £300-350 mark that will work like a horse and not let me down?

    Thanks

Surely buying secondhand is a dangerous game. You’re not to know how many cycles the previous owner has done. They could have been cramming a whole rugby kit in it each week for the past few years for all i know.

Then you get one from a reputable repair shop.. I could guarantee any Bosch appliance I have repaired for 3 years if I wanted to.

I already have appliances out there that have 2 year warrantees on them and I have no fear that they will come back my way for repair.

There’s some pretty good deals going around on Bosch at that price range right now. I fully understand your reservations regarding secondhand. Speaking personally I would’nt wish to buy a machine that has been washing other folks dirty underwear no matter how well it scrubbed up!

    Re: Washing machine dillema (Bosch)

I personally prefer a well refurbished secondhand Bosch of reliable German build rather than the modern cheap nasty Chinese built sealed drum Bosch machines of current.

As for the dirty laundry issue.. that is the same as using a laundrette whilst your washer is being repaired.. Likewise, when repairing these machines, your hands go into the same places if not closer to where the dirty laundry has been Martin. So rather than slagging the refurbished machine that is better for the environment etc.. just don’t make the comment.

Each to their own George, each to their own. The OP has his reservations on secondhand goods over new and so do I. He asked for advice on which Bosch to choose and being as I am very familiar with that brand I gave it.

And to add its not really factual George to say Bosch are cheap nasty Chinese built, if the OP wants a decent machine may i suggest upping the budget to a excel or logixx machine by bosch or Siemens with a 5 year warranty.

Yes, it is not very factual to refer to all Bosch machines as cheap nasty Chinese built, as not all Bosch machines are… My apologies for that…

Sorry to change the question but a bit of persuasion means that we now have a budget of between 450 and 500 pounds. What machine should we get? Being built by Ze Germans and avoiding sealed tubs seems to be a must? Thanks for your help and loo forward to your recommendations

Only buy buying a Bosch Logixx series machine can you guarantee it doesn’t have a sealed tub. Likewise top of the range Siemens incorporate the same.

Sorry to disagree with you Martin but everything up from the WAE24166 now has a split tub.

    Happiness all round 😀

A German built Bosch would be my recommendation too.. Unless you can again stretch the budget and get an ISE W256W which will then guarantee you get quality for ten years

    Re: Washing machine dillema (Bosch)

Blimey. A few more questions as this is the first washing machine i have ever bought so wanna make the wisest decision possible.

So is it possible to get a German made Bosch for 500 notes? Am i right in thinking Classix and Logixx are German made or have i got it wrong. Would a lower end Siemens be comparable to 500 note Bosch?

I have seen this, any good? sorry for the long link, not my fault.

    Thanks

Whilst here i have decided to buy this. Good decision do you think? A liebherr CUP 3021 fridge freezer
