Yes! German made by a German company though not necessarily assembled by Germans or indeed from a factory in Germany. But essentially ‘Deutschland über alles’.

The WM14Q390GB Country of Origin is Spain and the unit does have a split drum that makes it compatible for bearing changes.

As for the quality of build I cannot comment, but at around £500 it only carries a 2 year guarantee, whereas (budget or credit allowing) for a little further investment the ISE carries a 10 year P&L warrantee

The link given for the Siemens IQ300 does come with a five year free warranty. Unfortunately I do not have the cash for an ISE appliance, if i did i would buy one.

I am still slightly confused as to what machine I should buy with my £500

That siemens model does have a 5 year warranty

Yes.. Certain sites and shops are showing it as a 2yr warrantee, as per the link given .. All I am advising is to be careful and to check by asking at the point of purchase first.
