I apologise if this post appears twice but I just posted it and it didn’t appear in the index, although my name appeared as the most recent poster.
I just had a phone call from an old friend asking about the depth of washing machines. They currently have a Whirlpool machine that is only 520mm deep and has been fitted like an integrated appliance with a cupboard door in front of it. He reckons there is room for up to 560mm depth to the new machine but asks if there are any currently made machines that would fit. I know Zanussi used to offer a reduced depth version of the Nexus, is there an equivalent machine still available?

Hi, Yes Zan still produce one and so do Bosch. Dont have the models to hand though.

Just did some surfing and there is the Zanussi ZWC1300W which has reduced width & depth or the Bosch WFC2467GB but they are both around £400, ie on a par with integrated appliance prices. The Bosch seems very small at only 440mm deep so must have quite a small drum. My mate has seen a Hoover machine that would fit. I don’t rate the modern Hoovers very highly but I suppose it’s better than an Indesit.

I delivered the Bosch to an old lady, she was very pleased with it. Obviously no good for family use.
The trouble with this situation is however may times you measure it, when they have doors in front you never know if it fits until you find it doesn’t 🙁 Most new machines are more rounded on the front, “my old one fitted ok” is no use.

Thanks Graeme,
I’m now wondering about a Beko. I know they are very cheap but I don’t get to see many broken ones. There may be various reasons for this such as:
1) They are quite reliable
2) They are so cheap most people throw them away rather than get them repaired
3) There are simply not many out there
4) The extended warranty is cheap so most owners take this up

No doubt if I recommend a Beko it will turn out to be a pile of junk 🙄

Hi, I am just about to stop diong Beko under guarantee. Bearings and electronics are a very weak point with many going down in the first twelve months and 3 weeks for the parts to arrive. I I were offered one for £25 to sell on I’d say no. I have a reputation to uphold and the risk is not worth it. Like the saying goes ” there is no such thing as cheap and cheerful……”
