Hi, I have a Indesit Washing Machine model WIXL123.
It is slightly too tall to fit under our worktops (all our appliance seem to be). I have taken the lid off and it fits fine that way but looking into this it appears to be unsafe. I can see there are height reduction kits but having contacted Indesit they say they don’t do them. Is there a universal one i can buy? or could i get a piece of wood cut to that size to place on top to protect the inside of the machine? I just need to gain a few mm.
    Thanks.

    Re: Washing Machine Height Help!

seen this problem loads of times. normally a result of adding a tiled floor after the kitchen is fitted

there is no safe way to modify the machine. adding a wood top would seem ok but it has 2 problems. 1) its not fire proof or water resistant 2) As the machine works if the lid is not high enough the drum may hit it

    Washing machine lid

    Hi,

We have had new flooring put down in our house & stupidly didn’t think about how our appliances would fit under counter after this. Apparently our worktops have also been fitted too short originally so items were tight before this too but now impossible to fit in.
The washing machine has already had its feet removed (we inherited this machine with house). I have read about height restriction kits but none available for Indesit. The machine is an indesit WIXL123. Could we make a thin cover from wood or aluminium to cover it instead? We have the same issue with our dishwasher (Beko DWD 5411 W). I’ve taken the lid off this & no wires or anything so figure this might be ok under worktop.
Any help would be appreciated as I can’t afgord a new kitchen!!
    Thanks

I have merged your threads, no point at all in opening another thread when your first one has had an answer.

As already stated it is not safe to operate your machine without the top on and a wooden top is not really suitable.

A thin sheet of metal, secured by several self tapping screws could be a possible fix.

Removing the levelling feet is a no no too. Sounds like your floor to worktop ratio is pretty rubbish overall and something has to give. But these compromises are just too much and whatever machine you choose the guarantee will be nul and void from the outset I’m afraid. Is there nowhere else you can instal your washing machine?
