ParticipantHi.
I’ve got £250-£300 to spend on a new washing machine.
Any suggestions?
OR
Would anyone recommend either the ISE with the 5 year guarentees? It’s worth paying the extra with the repairs thrown in. John Lewis do a similar deal.

i am going to jump i here and then keep my head down.
in my opinion you should buy a hoover machine they come with hoovers standard 5 years parts guarantee,i would have nothing else but i have only been in the trade for 18 years and my dad for 35 years before me as authorised hoover agents.
now before anyone starts slagging them off hoover are owned by candy an italian company, but the machines are still manufactured in wales i have seen them being made.
other biased people will tell you to buy a bosch now also manufactured in spain and poland.
the hoover is easier to repair the parts are cheaper and easier to obtain.June 12, 2007 at 6:27 pm #216714Turbo

The Bosch WAE 24162 is the machine to buy at that price, this comes with a 2 year parts and labour Gtee
The Hoover only comes with 1 years parts and labour Gtee so after the 1st year is up you will have to pay a high labour charge every time it goes wrong.

ParticipantIs noone recommending the ISE machine then?
I’m thinking about paying the extra for the all in deal, but as there aren’t many reviews about it, I’m not gonna take it seriously.

The ISE is a very good machine, the independent support network makes it a far better propostion than a Hoover.
It has just been placed in the Which Top Ten best buy list.Miele W1512 £499
Miele W1714 £700
Miele Premier 520 £520
Miele W1514 £600
Zanussi ZWF1451 £379
AEG L86810 £479
Bosch WAE2446S £400
Beko WMA620 £231
ISE CI555WH £500 (£500 if bought online, £450 from local dealer)
Bosch WA2416S £330None of the other excellent machines come with the back up that the ISE machine has.
I have installed 83 ISE machines in just over 14 months, virtually trouble free, one or two call outs, mainly user misuse/misunderstanding, all resolved within 48 hours.
I am going to put number 84 in tomorrow, customer has a four year old Hoover( Candy) main bearing failure, ripped door seal etc, I advised them to take advantage of the 5 year parts cover but they had had enough of it.

ISE… I’m biased. 🙂
It is interesting that, in that top ten, there are only two AAA machines. The other aside from ISE is the AEG for a whole £20 less although you can buy it in Currys/Dixons for £447.11… plus £16.95 delivery (only, not installation) and you can have the warranty extended to five years (which is already on the ISE) for a whopping additional £289.
So to buy the equivalent from AEG will cost you £753.06!
ISE is a bargain when you look at it. 😉
I think we need to have a price review…. 😆

The five year parts guarantee has been around for years, Hotpoint introduced it before most others almost 25 years ago, at least 10 years before Hoover, although early Philips machines had a 10 year warranty, but that was only on certain components. What Hotpoint/Hoover et al forget to mention is the £80 to £90 labour charge, fine if the part is a motor/drum/module but not if the fault is a pump/door seal/ door switch or other low priced part. How does that stack up against a full five year parts & labour guarantee that comes with the ISE. :rolls:

Let’s be honest here. People buy something new, with expectations. Like IADOM, I sell the ISE machine, I think 26 to date, and have had no significant issues. Those that have arisen (all user issues) have been sorted out the next day.
If we accept that the ISE machine is proving to be basically reliable, people are happy. The fact that an Independent will put himself out to get round and sort an issue promptly works for the customer. We read in these forums all too often of “out of the box” failures, 7-10 day delays on service calls from the Major Manufacturers, refusals to exchange and other horrors.ISE doesn’t work like that.
There is no perfect machine; but some are much better than others, in every price band.

Of the £499 cost of the ISE, is that made up from a machine that is actually worth £499, with free servicing….or is it a £250 machine with another £250 built in for servicing?

Sorry I don’t quite understand where you’re going here with this.
If you look at equivalent machines the ISE is on a par on price and represents good value when you include the fact that it carries a five year backed warranty.
If you’re trying to understand if it’s a cheap machine with a huge lump for servicing them no, that’s not the case.

My sister and aunt got their ISE machines not long after they were launched, my friend got hers about a month ago and they all love it. All i have heard is great things about it and neither of them have yet to experience any problems with it either.
So i can definitely recommend the ISE and i know for a fact that when any more of my family or friends need a new machine i know what they will be getting. 😉

Just as an alternative it does look like AEG are currently offering a free 5 year parts and labour guarantee on L86810.
