ParticipantWhat kind of value do you carry? Goods in Transit insurance is probably what you are thinking of. I doubt there is anything specific to our trade.

I assume he meant a protective cover to put over a machine to prevent scratches and damage during transit
not sure why machine needs transporting cant remember last time I took a machine away was over 10 years ago and only because of the job complexity

ParticipantI can’t remember the last time I transported a machine for repair.
I bought a new house 22 years ago and fitted out the garage with a repair bay and never used it.Steve

ParticipantHaha, should’ve realised 40 years ago Hooover wouldn’t have been offering engineers financial products! Machines in those days really did deserve protection, given you were probably looking at several month’s wages to buy one.

ParticipantIf i sell a new machine i will take the old one away. The cover was to protect my van rather than the machine.Back in the day hoover had a padded four sided and top cover that you dropped over the top of said machine, unless anyone has a good way of protecting the bulkhead on a transit custom which is not a flat surface (new van)

ModeratorAn old single bed duvet, wrap it round machine and secure with a couple of pieces of gaffer tape.

ParticipantBut if that’s too upsetting , you can turn it inside out and then it becomes one of these….
