Hello…this is my first post so apologies if anything not correct. A technical enquiry please…..my Tricity Bendix 800 AW410 washing machine (manufactured approx 1996, fairly old I grant you, but in excellent condition) vibrates violently on final spin with varying clothes loads. No problems on spin if drum empty. I’ve experimented with various loads/distribution etc, still problems with any load. The machine is level, the floor is wooden (probably not ideal) but even if I lift the front end off the floor whilst spinning….it still has excessive vibration…and I mean excessive. I’m wondering if it is the plastic shock absorbers (Part No. 12401721 from Zanussi). I have removed the old ones, they seem okay with adequate stiffness when compressed. It is only these two shockers and two supporting springs (also seem okay) which hold the drum to main chassis. Nothing loose or broken inside. Otherwise I’m considering a new Siemens WM14Y590GB (solid German engineering?). Any advice most welcome. Many thanks. Peter

It is possible that the inner drum support has snapped. If you open the door and push down on the inner drum at various points does it appear to move down into the outer drum?
Could also be loose concrete balance weights.

Thanks iadom. Checked drum with downward pressure….all ok and solid. However, with the door open and grabbing hold of the inner drum, there seems to be a bit of play (2-3″) movement when pulling the the whole of the drum backwards and forwards in relation to front and rear of washing machine. Will check this ‘play’ with another machine to see if normal. Have checked concrete balance weights and all appear solid, both visually and physically. Thanks again.

Peter, my colleague iadom refers to the inner drum support spigot having cracked. The movement he refers to is the inner rotating drum in relation to the outer tub. There should be no movement there and the inner drum should rotate without any noticeable orbital movement. If the rotating drum ‘wobbles’ it would be a clear indication the drum shaft/support spigot has cracked.

Re: Washing machine vibration on spin cycle.

Martin….thanks for info. That sounds to me like a complete strip down in order to seperate inner and outer drum? A big job? However, no harm in trying and one learns from these things. A final point…I mentioned earlier about forward and backward motion of drum in relation to chassis…have checked with 2 other machines belonging to relatives and they show same movement so that seems to be okay. Again, thanks to all for help and advice.

Complete strip down to access yes. Not an easy fix for the novice by any stretch
