Washing machine with a concrete tub?

I came across the following PDF file on the net the other day:

Apparently, it is a patent application by Electrolux for a washing machine that has an outer tub made of concrete instead of Carboran.

I haven’t managed to find anything on the net about washing machines produced today with concrete tubs, but out of curiosity I just wanted to ask the knowledgeable people on this board. 🙂

So my question is basically, is this a good idea, or is it cost-cutting gone mad?

I’m sure I heard about that a while back but can’t recall much more than that.

It was filed nearly five years ago though.

My only concern would be that concrete has a nasty habit of cracking through vibration and, washing machines do tend to vibrate a bit. 😉
