I’m thinking of moving my washing machine from my kitchen into a small room next to my bathroom.

Unfortunately there is no mains water supply in the bathroom.

Can I run my washing machine off the supply to the basin in the bathroom, which is gravity fed?

Could I start by confirming that the suggested new location for your washing machine is not in your bathroom as this would be potentially leathal if it were. You will find that most manufacturers will quote a minimum and maximum water pressure measured in bar, on the specification data in your instruction book.
It sometimes takes a minimum pressure to help keep the water valve open once it is energised. You would be well advised to check this before you resite your machine. hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, I was thinking of running pipes from the bathroom into this smaller room, so the washing machine would not have been in the bathroom.

I agree with you, it does sound like a very bad idea. Unfortunately I have heard stories of people with washing machines in their bathrooms…very dodgy. 🙂

All safety messages taken as read, there is a low pressure water inlet valve available (used on some older Hotpoint machines. Your local parts supplier should be able to help
