Hi, hope you can give some general info before I call a plumber – dreading that one I can tell you!

(General background: I have a property which is ex-council on 8th floor that I rent out. Property empty right now and I’m doing appliance test).

When running the washing machine, as it empties, the water backs up into the sink – quite a lot. The machine is situated directly next to the sink, so water doesn’t have far to ‘travel’.

Do you think a pipe/drain blockage is the problem?

Without doubt the blockage is in your sink waste somewhere. The appliance is fine.

Is that a plumber job, or a DIY job? Husband’s handy!!

Most undersink wastes are just screw together parts, so fairly simple to dismantle and rebuild if he is handy.
