ParticipantPlease can someone help me?!
My old washing machine packed up recently and I have been given a Hotpoint Aquarius washer/dryer.
Within a couple of days the dryer was leaving the clothes steaming hot and wetter than when they went in.
We realised we had plumbed it in wrong by attaching the hot pipe and quickly got a y fixing to join the pipes into the cold tap.
We have also checked the thermostat and element are both working fine.
We have also checked the inlet valves and they are all fine.
We now think it could be the condensor but would really benefit from some expert knowledge!
After spending all of yesterday trying to sort it out and buying a spare part that I didn’t need, I am beginning to lose patience!
Does anyone have any advice?!October 14, 2008 at 2:40 pm #265114helo_75
Participanta wd420 doesnt have a condenser
strange, thats usually an inlet valve problem
does it have a grey ribbed pipe running to the back of the dryer housing?
if it does then that attatches to a filter that may well need cleaning
next thing to check of course is the sump hose ( black pipe from bottom of drum to pump ) access through the lower rear panel
are you trying to dry a full load? these machines are only designed to dry half a load effectively
does it have a 4 way valve or 3?
loads of questions, but remember to unplug the machine if your going to play

ParticipantHi, thanks for getting back so quickly. We have checked everything in the machine and they all seemed fine. It has a 4 way valve. The problem happens with next to nothing in it. We now have the time saver light and the power light flashing. The thermostat keeps tripping too. Do you know what could be the problem?!

Participantthe filter on the dryer box, like i said
the conversion was to take out the filter and snip the wire to the flushing valve!!

ParticipantNo we’ve already had the filter out and checked it as well as the pump. That’s why we’re so baffled!

r u 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure the waters getting down the back of the drum, via the other grey hose?
October 14, 2008 at 5:00 pm #265119fluffyoide
ParticipantIt is but not as fast as the water coming out of the other hoses.
There are two grey hoses, one for the filter under the dryer manifold and the other goes directly to the back of the drum.
We have disconnected both grey hoses one at a time and started a drying cycle.
We found the water going into the filter was about mains pressure and we also found that the water entering the drum was about a tenth of the pressure of the filter hose.
Could this be our problem?October 14, 2008 at 5:13 pm #265120helo_75
Participantno.. the one on the filter should be a flushing valve for the filter, and should be mains pressure.. the one at the back is designed just to keep the back of the drum cool so the steam will condense
back to my original post…. REMOVE the filter completely, and disconnect the flushing valve
youll find the results are a lot better
it was taken off on later models, but readded on the very latest one
i still take them off cos theyre crap
oh.. and your flashing lights
top to bottom ( 1-5) which lights are flashing ie 1 and 4 or 2 and 3
maybe that might point to another fault
we’ll get there, dont worry
October 14, 2008 at 5:21 pm #265121fluffyoide
ParticipantIt’s light number 4 flashing slowly and the power light too but faster.
Thanks very much for all your help. Will have another look at it tomorrow!October 14, 2008 at 5:37 pm #265122helo_75
ParticipantF01….OFF, OFF, OFF, Flash, OFF.

not good

ParticipantSo I guess what we have to do now is call someone out!
Is this connected in any way to our original problem or are we just doomed with this machine?!October 14, 2008 at 5:45 pm #265124helo_75
Participantdo a search, theyre pretty bobbins
motor might just be wet
let it dry outespecially if u took the hoses of to check flow?

ParticipantHi, left the pcb to dry out overnight and now the only light that comes on is the on/off switch!
Nothing else happens apart from the ‘dry’ light flashing when put on M.
Do you have any ideas?!October 15, 2008 at 8:41 pm #265126helo_75
Participantmotors duff
