ParticipantHi all I wonder if you may be able to help please?
I have a Hotpoint WD440 and it just stopped working the other day after a wash.
it will turn on (lights on) no problem and when I press start the lights change to wash/dry or whatever is selected…but nothing more, I can here the door lock engaging but thats it…no flashing lights. after a while the door lock light flashes but its a good 2-5mins later.
I have had the machine for 15months and do not want to pay out if its something I can have replaced…I also know my way around a tool box so if something needs removing I should be able to do it (had the top off the machine already but no idea where to start looking!)
any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks
dan

Participantwell, daft as it may seems after such a short time, it may well be worth checking the brushes in the motor
common fault on indesit, the door locking and not starting
although i wouldnt rule out a faulty pcb
and thats where the fun starts

Helo,
Thank you for the promp reply!
what would people say is worth doing? getting a tech out at £99 and if they cant fix it money is down the drain as its simply a call out fee or spending £15.90 a month for ten months to get a 12 month protection ( I know I am paying labor only as parts have a 5 year warranty – this is why I am hesitent to do it….also I already had a tech out from Comet 4 months ago (machine 10 months old )for a clicking when the drum rotated…fixed…so I feel like I have a faulty unit…?!
Thanks again
Dan

Indeed, last time the machine still ran but there was an awful clicking constantly. this was when the belt was replaced.
I have called out nd paid for an engineer now as I erally did not know how to sort this problem myself and without being here its imposible for you guys to help fully.
Thank you to all for the replies and time taken to answer my messages.
Cheers
Dan
