I had a call to the above machine.

Customer says the machine went ‘pop’ slight smell of burning and E31 during the spin. Tried to run again and got E30 following fill.

I have checked the motor which is an FHP and brushes and insulation are fine. Found Power-board blown at the motor connection and the dryer element short to earth. The wiring harness looked OK to motor.

Before I replace the PCB can anyone tell me if there is anything else other than the motor/harness that could cause this to blow?

    Thanks,

    Keith.

I’ve had a few of the WD’s (fitted with the FHP motor) with a chafed loom where the wires are tied to the motor connector block metal support bracket. You cannot see the chafing until you cut off the zip tie and look closely. This will cause the board to fry on spin. 😉

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

Check for a sock in the drum!

I’m sure it’s not the loom, I checked it closely as I thought that would be the problem.

Something in the drum is worth investigating further though.

    Thanks,

    Keith.
