Hi,
I own a Hotpoint WD860 which has been fine since I bought it until recently…
A couple of days ago I discovered on emptying a load after a wash + sensor dry (cupboard dry). that the washing at the bottom of the drum was wet (i.e sopping), whilst the rest of the load was bone dry. I figured therefore that the water had entered the drum after the washing had finished drying.
The washing machine drains properly (i.e. to a standpipe set at a level above the sink drain), so there is no backfilling (the water in the drum was clean anyway).
I verified the drain pump is working properly by running it through a cycle, and noted that at the end of the wash the drum was dry, but leaving the machine for a few hours resulted in water a couple of inches deep being in the bottom of the drum.
I can’t hear gushing water when the machine is idle, but think from reading on here and elsewhere that it must be an inlet solenoid or something, and wanted to check with the forum before doing something expensive like getting it looked at! Does anyone know if these machines or related models have problems like this, and also, is there an easy way to check if it’s the solenoid or not. I’m fairly proficient at taking things to pieces so would have no qualms about opening it up if I knew what I was looking for.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Rich.
