WD860G Inner Bearing.

Good morning all.
Suggestions for the following problem would be much appreciated.
I’m in the process of renewing the drum bearings on a WD860G washer / dryer.
I’ve removed the outer / rear bearing no problem, the inner bearing was completed collapsed and after knocking out the remains of the bearing I’m left with the outer race still stuck in place.
Now I’ve done this job several times and have encountered this problem before but I’ve always managed to knock the offending race out.
However this time no amount of WD40 / hammering and banging with lump hammer and drift will get this to move.
(Not 1mm)
I have a couple of ideas that I intent to try out the next time I’m off but in the meantime I’m open to suggestions.

no they are not easy to remove

my way of doing them is as follows

I have got a new bearing of the same size and taken it to bits. I then re.install the loose bearings and inner ring in the stuck outer adding a bit of grease to hold the balls. move the balls so they are spaced equally. you should then be able to knock the ring out

take care you clean in front of the rings and add a bit of wd40 to aid getting it out

I usually drill a couple of groves about 5mm deep behind the bearing ring then I can get a drift fully onto the ring to knock it out.

Using a Dremel with a diamond grinding wheel to cut away part of the edge of the front bearing aluminium retaining lip is an option. Every DIY enthusiast has a Dremel in his shed so it’s any easy get out tool. Simply grind away 3mm of the lip behind the bearing enough to get a sharp edged chisel behind the bearing then batter 7 bells with a lump hammer and the busted bearing will shoot across the floor, freed at last! Pat yourself on the back and pause to sup another cup of tea and munch a fairy cake. :innocent:

Sounds much better than using a drill Martin. Have used the drill method for so many years it is second nature. (Where did I put that new rotary tool, gizmo thing? Hmmmm)
