Weald Fridge

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can give me some information/help on my fridge? It’s a Weild commercial two door glass fronted model. Model # WM32HS/S (stainless steel) Serial # M4467/9 (Gas Charge: R134a/140g)

The history of the fridge is that it sat unused for a few years in a nightclub after it was closed down. I bought/brought the fridge home, and it was fine for about two months. (it was not laid down, banged or moved vigourously in any way) I noticed that it was not reaching the correct temp and took the back off to clean the coils and heat exchanger. This didn’t help. The heat exchanger is only freezing around the expansion valve. Frost builds up, and my finger sticks to the area, showing that the compressor is ok?

I know the compressor ‘could’ be weak, but it’s not getting red hot to the touch. There is a possibility that a tiny leak has happened and the sealed system needs looking at.

It didn’t help that a bloke from a local company came out, and his eyes lit up when he saw it. He said he thought it would have to be taken in for service. I get the feeling that they would remove the fridge, tell me the compressor is no good and quote me a ridiculous price, or give me £10 to take it off my hands. It didn’t help that he was discussing chipped cable boxes for £200 quid when he arrived. It’s a beautiful fridge. When it works…

Apparently the job was passed onto someone to deal with, but they have not got back in touch with me.

I’ve tried the online seach function for a repairman in my area, but as the manufacturer is not listed, I cannot continue. Is there anyone in the Liverpool area who would be willing to fix this fridge? The cash has been sitting on the microwave for a week. I’d love to give it to someone.

I get the feeling the fridge needs re gassing, but of course I’m no expert. Is it normal for drinks chillers to need gas occasionaly, even if a sealed system does not have a leak?

And is there anyone close enough to me who would take a look?

I’ve been without a fridge for 2 weeks now, and pot noodles are losing their novelty value.

Now here’s a tough one.

Without knowing a lot more about the cabinet it’s very hard to guess at it as it depends on how it works as there could be a valve in there switching from one zone to another.

Ignoring that though it is likely to be a weak compressor or a blockage, especially with R134 in it as it is prone to choking. Certainly with 134 in it most of the people on repairs@ would probably be able to look at it for you, whether they are willing to ot not, well that’s a whole different story.

As for dodgy cable boxes… it’s Liverpool! 😆

We get the same thing in Glasgow, mostly at knifepoint in a pub! 😉 😆
