Will the new weee directive see the reduction in internet sales by small bedroom based companies as they will not be able to fulfill the responsabilities of returning old units.? i.e will they be able to carry the cost of paying a carrier to return the old unit to a designated site? Will this also effect the large sheds and their internet sales?
Hopefully the smaller independant may regain a small proportion of sales .

    Re: weee directive

Depending on the final “version” it will depend on the depth of the responsibilty to retailers, either web based or otherwise I think.

The manufacturers will have to have documentation to prove that an old appliance has been recycled correctly so the retailer won’t be able to just send it straight to a dedicated recyling centre without the correct paperwork which will then need sending to the relevent manufacturer, it’s an absolute admin nightmare to be honest as well as logistically virtually impossible to implement in it’s current form, hence the Governments continuing delay on this.

I’m trying to keep up with the ever changing face of “WEEE” but one thing is for certain, it could change the whole whitegoods industry for the better if it’s done correctly.
