I was speaking to Bill Hanratty in Brandt a couple of weeks ago and he told me they have an engineer in the south, one in the Midlands and also one in the north and that all they should do is supply support to new build sites but can attend normal run of the mill jobs if required.
My major pain with them is trying to get them to take spares back for appliances they have exchanged whilst I am waiting for back order spares. I am getting a bit pissed of with having to post the spares back and then invoice them for the parcelforce charges. I have did this twice in the past 6 months and have still not got the money back. They even asked me to post back a spider and drum by parcelforce and I told them where to go so they told me to dispose of them and gave me the credit.
My major problem at the moment is the lovely Samsung people. How often do you go onto their website to order 3 parts for a job and see 1 with no due date on it. I don’t order any spares for a Samsung job till I am sure that all are in stock as you can bet the appliance will be exchanged while you are waiting for the last part.
And then you get a “Vanilla” appliance. Got another one this week and it was a fridge freezer 😕 😕 Phoned Nuneaton to get it wrote off and they came back with the “phone this number for spares crap”. Had this a couple of times already and the company they gave you for spares went bust 2 years ago. So they then ask you for the original purchase price and cubic capacity( I need to remember to give my engineers a tape measure and a calculator)
You probably saw my post the other week looking for a oven switch and element for a Vanilla oven which D&G eventualy wrote off. When I looked at the customers policy it was a 1+4 new for old policy. The oven was 4 years old and cost £160 new with £50 on top for the policy, How can D&G make money from this and why did they insure it in the first place??

There’s something we can take issue with and start on…
SPARES RETURNS!!
I point blank refuse to post or send spares back and I point blank refuse to pay for them as well if it is not MY fault. If they want them then they can bloody well come get them, at their expense.
Point is, it works!
Now if we all took that attitude and stance then there would be little option and, in most cases, it would actually be cheaper for them just to issue a credit note and leave you with the part. Frankly, for the costs involved in it all, it’s simply not worth the hassles involved of us doing it or of them picking stuff up.
But why should I included in my £40, be expected to fill in forms, jump through hoops, repack, label and ship at my expense parts that I should never have had to pay for in the first place. That’s my line on it and, since we do not send out spares to the public, we have no deals for shipping, which costs a fortune. No, bollocks, they can pay for it if they want that service.

I tend to take the same line to be honest.
You want it back, come and get it. I’ll either dump it and never pay for it or they can issue me a credit note, whichever they choose.
If they put my account on hold for not paying for something I didn’t order or is not required for any particular reason, fine, I can’t repair any of your customers appliances then 😉

Up the revolution brothers.
I will phone Brandt ( if they answer the phone ) and tell them that I am not going to send the current batch of cock ups back and politley request a credit note. I have probably got about £500 worth of spares for jobs that been exchanged whilst waiting for parts.
Will let you know how I get on.

I don’t pay for parts that I should not hold, If it is too late when I find out about it, I simply keep that amount back when I’m next due to pay. I then write on the statement the invoices I’m expecting credit and advise them that I will pay once recognised by them.
Brandt fail to realise that they were out of order, and are demanding D&G find a replacement agent, I told Therese if it was me I would be mercenary in reminding them they have not only broken their contract, but are undermining their network.

Ain’t it funny how they change their tune when it suits.
The other day I phoned Brandt after recieving what should have been an oven door handle but in fact it was some sort of plinth.
“Chuck it away and I’ll send the handle FOC as It’s easier than sorting out the return and credit” I was told. And they did 😯
I haven’t had a call yet Alex, I’ll mention it to Dave Jones though if you’re OK with that, just in case he gets a call. Maybe a call to Dave at Bendaire as well ? Although he won’t go that far I doubt.
Why are there so many fecking Dave’s in Devon 😀

KeymasterWell when this does break into the main forums, which I’m sure it will at some point, we all have to be taking the same line/s on this. If we do, hopefully, it’ll set the president and others will take heed of Brandt maybe getting a kicking over spares returns etc. With any luck they’ll pay attention and take heed.
Anyway, that twat Manaj may be a nice guy to speak to, but by fuck he’s pissed us all off. 😕

At the risk of being rude, can I suggest that we list off the key points of the debate likely to follow? We have numerous discussions where people argue a case based only on part of the facts available. We can do better from this forum; let’s face it we wish to exert influence from in here, so let’s do it together! Therefore, as I read it :
1) Wrongly supplied parts
2) Slowly supplied parts
3) Work lost due to 1) + 2)
4) Process of doing returns – self costs etc.
5) Intransigence by suppliers
6) Heap praise on the sensible ones!
7) Link to constant spares pricing arguement – if some will write off cock-ups, what does that tell you!
8 – 8) Big stick – for you guys to decide! Please add anything I’ve missed, then we’re ready to go.
Regards,

I agree with peng, We some times have to narrow the debate, as some forum threads start off with a great idea and you think yes! we’re on to something here and then some muppett goes off on a tangent and the original thought get’s lost along the way.
I dont know how you can do it, but we must start to instill a bit of protocol that we stick to the topic in the heading. Otherwise we do not reach a conclusion to the debate, just endless rambilings.

Interbreeding.
On a serious note and continuing the theme. I’m happy to come in on this publically regards Brandt, but I think we do need to set a “protocol” first and then Brandt can get a roasing from me in the thread. Too busy at the moment to get it into print. What I want to avoid though is upsetting D&G as I feel they are victims in this affair.
Therese at D&G told me it was a big mistake taking on the Brandt contract in the first place. She finds the agents who were not previously Brandt appointed, and therefore not shat upon, don’t give her a problem.
Says it all really..
