I have a Westinghouse RB501G Upside down Fridge Freezer.
    Probably 8-10 years old.
I have drilled holes through the door and fitted a keg beer system so I would like to get this operational again if the cost is reasonable.
The thermostat seems to have failed.
All my beer is freezing regardless of the coldness setting.
Can someone please advise if this is likely to be the thermostat.
What the part number is and a description on replacing it.

    OK
    I purchased part # 14131411
Gave the fridge a detail and polish
Looks great but my beers still frozen

    No change

I think a fridge is a pretty simple heat pump with the thermostat controlling the compressor.

The fridge has been in the same place for 5 years and only occasionally is the door opened
What would you advise I look for next.

If you kinked the capillary on the new t/stat it won’t work at all 😉

The capillaries are very fragile and must be bent with care. It’s a small bore copper tube with refrigerant inside (liquid and vapour) that responds to temperature change (it has as specific pressure/temperature relationship) and activates the power element, (a bellows arrangement) opening and closing the switch points.

The other thing it could be is short of refrigerant.

If the evap plate is only partly frosted, eg 1/3-1/2 or so across the plate the fridge will run all the time and freeze the contents as the end of the plate where the t/stat capillary is situated won’t be cold enough to cut out.
