Wet vac washing machine emptying

Just bought a wetvac as I have admitted defeat. An indesit WD10 fuller than full of water up the door in a top floor flat on kitchen carpet due to the grandson repeatedly trying it. Appliance sliders wont cut it. 39.99 from screwfix. Has a blower function too.

I’m curious to know how you solve it just by buying a wet vac? Opening the door floods the flat and all below it and releasing the filter causes likewise trauma.

the only chance you have got of emptying the machine is access to the outlet hose. if you have access you may be able to get the machine to start syphoning or use your wet vac to draw the water out that way. this will fail if its blacked by a sock or something like it

another option is to try and empty by filter. this only works if you can find a tray that’s low enough to catch the water as it comes out of the filter. you then loosen the filter till the water trickles out. do not unscrew it completely as it may not close again. this can take time but rushing leads to floods

Couldnt get my turkey baster to pull enough water up the drain hose to syphon into bowl. Because it exits the cupboard next to it 3/4 higher than washing machine. Pump humming due to coin so not blocked. So vac on end of drain should pull it

I wouldn’t survive without a wet vac.
It saves so much hassle & time.
I leave mine running longer than needed too just to
stop me having to talk to the customer!!

Good idea Tim. Maybe a baking tray on the van too electrofix. Never had to resort to this yet.

Well that was brilliant. Should have bought one 17 years ago. Sucked water out of drain hose then it ran into bowl by itself by syphon action. Finally opened filter slightly with crevice tool at base of filter and baking tray under machine to get the final bit of water out. So much faster than bowls and towels. My mum has bought one to vac the front lawn (astroturf)

I made a useful discovery today. Those little pumps you spin using an electric drill will pump air, so they don’t need to be primed. I was looking for a way to start a syphon, not involving the human mouth. It was actually to bleed a central heating radiator which has its pipes going up high to get over a doorway. It worked well. For a washer I would poke a length of garden hose down through the soap drawer housing and use the drill pump.

Sounds a bit fiddly.
Through the drawer,through the dispenser hose,
through a narrow gap pass the drum then to the water level…

That is an impossibility. Besides that then assumes you have access more than the OP describes.

Sorry to burst your bubble but a hand drill pump and garden hose are best left solely to your successful radiator problem.
