had a look at this one this morning.fault reported was tripped rcb mid program.mentioned f11 was coming up previous to this so checked drain pump that was ok.did usual checks ie heater pr sw etc.still tripping as soon as you turn it on.disconnected motor and m/c comes on ok but have stripped that down and no obvious fault.toc c circuit.acc motor, any ideas

😕 = “toc not open circuit, motor made by ACC” ?

What did the megger say to the motor? In case of no megger available, what did multimeter on highest ohms range say between earth and motor terminals? Although that would be much less certain to expose a fault than a megger.

megger readings all good >1000 bar the usual reading on carbons circuit.

Still, the fact that the thing started up when it was disconnected suggests strongly that that’s where the problem is.
E-bay is a good source for secondhand Hotpoint motors 😉 .
Probably because they get taken off all those scrapped sealed drum machines and pcb failures.
Or it could be abraded wiring loom.

    Re: wf101 tripping

thanks for that mike.my real concern is that motor testing out ok and visibly looking good internally.was thinking that by disconnecting motor i may have opened up a short circuit elsewhere, tho nothing obvious.will try motor.thanks again

That’s why I suggested looking for abraded loom.

thanks mike.now i have to apologise for maybe wasting your time a bit. i have posted wrong machine model.i have posted m/c belonging to ladys mother that i did same day(same surname)correct model no is wmf540(brain def not engaged yest :clown: :clown: :clown:.any how this morning i went back to machine.disconnected motor and m/c came on.m/c was mid program so reset it to a rinse.then reconnected motor pressed start and it started flashing :door; in display.am i right in thinking that i may get away with interlock(one on order).as i said before m/c will trip mid program if motor plug connected.apologies again

    Re: wf101 tripping

Er.. my reply would have been the same for pretty much any model. As for door lock, it would seem sensible to try it, they are a bit prone to fail. Heater element would also not be beyond suspicion, given mid-programme aspect. Could even be something going on at module (water?/mouse?/big black spider?).
What happens on a spin only with motor connected?

test run on a rinse too 🙂

so far on the latest ranges of h/p weve been called out to, all weve replaced so far has been the instant door locks, if this model has the instant door lock too id be looking there.

also, is it possible its aborting mid cycle for another reason, and then interlock trips on its release?

    Re: wf101 tripping

thanks for replies, once m/c reset it will not start any program and :door: flashes on display then it trips out.will only come on again if motor is disconnected.

    Re: wf101 tripping

does it trip out IF the door is not shut???

also disconnect heater, and see if it then trips

had a couple of hp w/ds now trip out the minute you shut the door, because the dryer elements have gone down, if you start the program with door open it was fine. its almost with the first 10secs they do a zanussi and energise everything at once.

    Re: wf101 tripping

fitted new lock this am.no difference at all.reset m/c by disconnecting motor first closed door pressed start the word door comes up then trips out.have disconnected heater and no difference.readings on heater v/good.lady is going to use h/pt 5 year parts warranty as if it is motor(i doubt it)or module it will be more cost effective.thanks for all input.paul
