Before you attempt to refit the belt, open the door and spin the drum as fast as you can by hand, is it totally silent or rather noisy?
There is ‘a knack’ BTW. From the top, lash the belt to the drum pulley using a strong plastic cable tie, feed the belt over the motor pulley and then from inside the door rotate the drum to wind the belt onto the drum pulley, remove cable tie. Make sure you remove the mains plug first.
If the drum is noisy then don’t waste your time, the main bearings will have failed and if is bad enough to throw the belt off then you are looking at major expense. If the drum is completely silent then refitting the belt will only be a temporary fix, it will come off again and you will need a new belt.
