Help!
This machine is reported to have poor spin performance.Reported as clothes dripping wet, almost as if it skips the spin completely (akin to the timer problem on early ariston/indesit machines). However it seems to be ok when I’m there. Damn thing!
Pump is fine, water level is fine, pressure system is clean, brushes fine. The only thing I have noticed is that the motor sometimes appears to ‘growl’ during distribution tumbles. Is it likely to be the motor, the module or the timer? My gut feel is the module. Any advice will be much appreciate. BobMarch 29, 2006 at 4:32 pm #171389leavemetogetonwithit

The fault is intermittent. Therefore the most likely things are a connection or a dry joint. I know it’s time consuming but sometimes you just have to get in there and look at evrything. Sorry to state the obvious.

My gut feeling here is that the triac on the module is playing up when it’s cold. There are certainly no dry joints on the module and the components show no signs of overheating.
The last time I had this type of problem was on an Indesit and it turned out to be the timer. The symptoms in that case definitely pointed towards the module or the pressure switch!
I just wonder if anyone has had similar symptoms on this type of Bosch appliance.

Sounds like a classic Eaton timer fault to me…..

Thanks Chris. I have never experienced this before on a Bosch but it is virtually the same timer as used on the Indesit machines that suffer from this symptom.
I’m going to have to check that model number though as it’s not listed on the Bosch website.I think the timer is actually the cheaper option too 🙂

165827 across all of them. Or EMW’ll recon it for you.

I’ve certainly replaced timers for that fault on many occassions. But the wfb intermittantly not spinning could also be the speed control board or pressure s/w.
Also have a good look at the motor loom and plug, had quite few of those with dodgy connections and broken wires.

Thanks for all the replies. I have checked all the wiring etc and it seems to be fine. The pressure switch seems fine. The customer has told me that it will wash ok and will advance to the final spin and then only distribute. If she puts it on spin again a few times it will sometimes spin and then be OK for a few washes. I just wish it would do it for me!
I think I will go for the timer in this instance (and it is in stock)!
I will keep you all posted.
