Thanks Martin for the CD, You were mentioned in dispatches somewhere else on the forums, possibly in recommended listening.

Looks like we are going out with a bang at the expense of Brandt & CDSL

    Have a good un.

Yep, it’s been a good year in many ways, lots of positives which is great. Okay, so maybe not for everyone but such is life. 😉

Martin, I don’t mind getting stick. I’m a big boy now, I can take it.

I’ll save the rest for the mesage that will be posted just after midnight tomorrow on the front page.

Watch it with the short references 😀 . The hair’s all mine :rotfl:

To be serious for just a moment, 2004 was chaotic to say the least, this year has seen UKW move forward in a cohesive and co-ordinated way – the professional presentation of the site to the outside world has been outstanding. The achievements have been pretty stunning as well.

My personal thanks and well done to all the “management team”, outstanding job. Not bad for something designed to help engineers talk to each other.

Here’s to 2006, may we go from strength to strength.

And I still can’t get a full sized dishwasher into our kitchen…..

    Happy new year to all,
    Chris.

    Re: What a year eh!

Thank you Chris, we are trying and we’ll keep on doing so.

With bloody minded people like Kevin and Sean it’s less of a chore. 😉

Dave and I just plot and get on with the grafting.

That may all be lies, but whatever or however we do what we do it seems to work as we go at things from an independent’s point of view at ground level. I don’t see that as a bad thing at all.

I have always maintained that my position in respect of how UKW was moving was fluid to some extent. We react to market forces, opportunities and the general will of the community probably far faster that anyone else just because we can’t shut up, we talk all the time.

What I could hardly say in the little news piece on the front page is that we all take great notice of what’s said in here, then slot it into all the other pieces of the jigsaw. Thank you for expressing your opnions, it does make a difference.

I have to admit I’m looking forward to this year and I hope that we have a chance to fight back still more.

And I have all my own hair, Kevin says it’s thinning but that’s only to deflect attention from his baldness. 😆

    Ha!
At least we can play “Spot the bald patch” as opposed to “Spot the hair”.

The point I was making was about presentation – it’s a damn site more professional now. We don’t seem to have the “He said she said” and “Yaboo sucks” of 18 months ago. If we are influencing our little world, it’s crucial that it looks good,as well as having content.

    I think it’s going pretty well…….

    Here’s to 2006,
    Chris.

    Re: What a year eh!

    Presentation, yes…

An oft overlooked little thing that is, it seems to be that many think that “it’ll do” when in fact it does not. You’ve actually hit a very large nail on the head there and why I will not let anything escape from my desk/inbox unless I’m happy that it looks good and has the content behind it to back it up.

How it looks is just so important, I simply cannot stress how important that the presentation and, therefore, perception is.

As some fellow directors will tell you, I am totally anal about this and I will freely admit it, but it has to look slick. We as repairers, have to look slick and as if we are professional and know what we’re about, it’s crucial to our futures if we want to compete with the likes of British Gas et all.

From the emails that we get (Dave and I especially) we are generating the image that we want the public to have of us and that’s a fantastic start. Now all we have to do is reach more people, a task that we’ve already started on, in fact for now it’s well underway in as much as we can do with what we’ve got.

But if you all really want to become a cohesive force to be reckoned with and if you really want to take a chunk of control back, just give us a few more months. 😉

Happy new Year to you all,

Nice recital on Whirlpool Ken, I heard same rumour from a guy who contracted to the said service provider. Evidently one of the directors of the company that has/is going under has already been under before with Whirlpool under a different name
