Thanks to Dave for replying to my earlier post about my Zanussi ZCE7700X F/A/O not heating up.

I’ve tried to remove the cover/rear wall of the oven cavity, to allow me to get to the heating element. top two screws came undone reasonably easily. Bottom left and bottom right refuse to budge.

What do you pros do in this situation? How do you get those two stuck screws out? I don’t really want to replace the cooker when the part is just over £20…

I’ve done the obvious things – swearing at it and sucking air through my teeth whilst shaking my head disconsolately, but they still won’t budge, and there’s a risk of mashing up the philips heads soon.

    Help!!!!
    Thanks – BB

Using a very sharp drill, drill the head off. Once the tension is released and the back panel is out of the way, you can grab the stump with a mole grip and unscrew it. I have to to this 3 or 4 times every week……..

    Thanks Pengin45,

I’ll buy a new drill bit tomorrow and give it a try.

    Fingers crossed!!

Try doing just one corner 1st, then moving the panel left/right try to work the other screw loose, enough for it to move with a screw driver.

    Kevin

Thanks, for the tip. Drilling the head of the lower right one, caused the rusted/burnt in one on the lower left to come free.
Now awaiting the element that I ordered through UK Whitegoods shop ( at £7 and £10) cheaper including postage than two shops in Reading, to arrive, so that I can finish the job.

    Cheers – Neil
