A ‘tidy up’ in places as it is a bit messy in parts for ‘Guests’ to view!
Diplomat error codes placing in the customer/visitor area to prevent the endless stream of queries day in day out!
I think the ‘spare parts’ enquiries to be a major money spinner for UKW as most that view want to DIY 😉 😉
Fine tuning the key word here I reckon 😉

Yeah, I contemplated that the other day and decided against it. Instead I added a bit on the front page message to combat it I hope. 😉
The spares are producing some results and earning UKW a bit of income though, but we’re working on the shop again over the weekend and an SSL certificate is in hand, we need that to go live. That should change the nature of those forums slightly yet again in time.

I think putting any error codes in there entirety in the public forums may cause more trouble than it’s worth tbh. As Ken mentioned, he posted about it giving that they are only a guidline and really for engineers use only. It may also have legal implications with copyright etc.
The spares thing I am in the main dealing with and I can confirm so far has netted UKW circa £150 this year in “commision” for want of a better word. Not outstanding, but that comes mainly from the help desk where 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the enquiries I reply to are never responded to and even those are quite often non-conclusive as the punter has not given me enough information in the first place. I would say that approximately 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}-25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the enguiries from there turn in to real sales, and then mainly low value parts. Hopefully the shop will change all that.
If Martin wants to tidy the public forums, I don’t see a problem with that at all. Moving spares enquiries from”Public Help” etc etc to the correct place should be enough. I would not delete any though as Google and other search engines are constantly crawling there and use all the keywords which in turn increases the page views and hits the site recieves.
I would also check for any old “Sticky’s” and un-sticky them so they drop down the forum where the posted date will apply. Don’t move “announcements” though, unless they are done by the public, which I don’t think they can anyway.
Moving posts is a fairly straightforward thing to do, but time consuming.
That’ll keep you busy for a while 😉

What I meant by that was, (and I have bugger all knowledge of Diplomats so this may be irrelavant) but to post those ‘Error Codes’ that are given in ‘The User Guide’ (assuming owners of Diplomats have such things?? – Hotpoints and Bosch etc do!) “Shut Door”, “Switch On”, “Filter Check” that sort of stuff. Not technical i.e. “PRC Time Out” “Fill Time Out” etc etc
Just for Joe Public to see and ease off the postings to find out fundimental stuff that’s all 😉

Yep, sorry I misunderstood. The one’s from the user maunuals would be a good idea definitely.

Carry on the way you are as far as I am concerned ,I had a Thought on how to raise the profile of UKW in the Trade but it could take a lot of thought and effort !.
Do you remember Simon Mayo’s breakfast show on radio 1 ? he had a slot called confessions where peopl wrote in and told a tale and then owned up to being the culprit ,Well they then produced two books of these confessions ,Listed the subjects as contents and then compiled the letters and published the book ,How about doing the same thing with the “why do customers ” thread But call it something like the appliance engineers lot or something ,Distribute through all the spares suppliers we know maybe put advertising in it ,but the point is its published by UKW Whats the most common thing we all gas about at meetings normally how much we are not earning followed by wierd faults and equally wierd customers ,Like I say i dont know how we would produce it but Kens frozen Parrot has got to be in it somewhereRegards Lawrence

How often can we all say “I could write a book!”….surprisingly enough, many of us can and these days it is easy enough to do so. Considering the standing UKW has on Google etc, we could flog thousands of copies. Even turn it into a movie Like “Confessions of a Window Cleaner!” did 😉
Think on guys! I know you will agree on this one with me and Lawrence. Doubters may say “Yeah, but how do we put it all together, and get it printed???”…..Not a problem and certainly not expensive to get off the ground….Think on…..thoughts please 😉
