I have been asked to fit an electric cooker but it needs to be wired in.

I know how to do it safely but am i breaking the law if I do do it?

No you’re not breaking any laws by doing it yourself. If you were an electrician by trade and were’nt registered with the local council (under the ‘Part P’ electrical regulations) you would be breaking the law but only then if the cooker supply was a completely new installation.

What we don’t know is what exactly do you intend doing? Are you simply connecting to an existing supply? Or do you intend putting in a 45amp spur to the Consumer Unit?
