Over £20 a week just to look up the odd part number, seems a bit OTT to me especially when many of the spares guys will help you with that for free!

However a little birdie tell me that you should hold off for a little while, possibly until sometime in January before commiting to part with the cash. 😉

I work it out (on Laurence’s quoted prices that is) at around £6.50 per week in the first year and £5 a week in the 2nd. So that’s not too bad if you can put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

Buying the TDS DVD = £20 (per year ‘ish) SIOS CD Rom a similar rate and the rubbish Indesit CD (costing £82.25 this year) equates to shelling out some £120 ‘ish per year in total maybe? (£2.30 per week). So whilst the latter option is far cheaper than the ‘Tradeplace Option’ if the tech spec info is added (as with Bosch/Neff/Siemens products) it may be of far greater value overall and a possible consideration….?

I will wait (as Ken hints) for the New Year before rushing headlong into a decision that may be yet another drain on finances overall. 🙄

Sorry Martin, you’re right I hadn’t had my coffee. 😉

For me this is a non-starter as we don’t touch stuff that we’re not agents for so, quite simply, there’s no point in paying for it. Even less point if you consider that XXXXX manufacturer wants me to buy their parts, but wants me to pay for the privilege of looking them up only topay them for the spare at a ludicrous price.

    Hmmm.

Yeah if you do a lot with a particular manufacturer I can perhaps see the sense, but any less than half a dozen lookups a week at the very least and I simply wouldn’t bother, just find a decent spares supplier that will help or indeed ask on UKW. 😉

    Hi Mark,
I have checked with Croydon and have been told there is no plan to stop producing SIOS disks.
