KeymasterAsking in the forums if there is any interest in setting up a national network of repairers without tipping our hand too much at this stage, since after the meetings in September it’s pretty much a moot point point anyway. Also some people seem to have the idea in their head that that’s the way things are moving as is at this point in time.
The thing is though we would be able to gauge reaction to the idea in advance and maybe be a bit more prepared for some of the questions in advance.
Also, if it went “public” like that it’s going to strike the fear of God into a couple of service providers I could mention! 😉
But and, let’s face it, without the likes of us to do the work for them these people are totally powerless.

ParticipantIt needs to be kept strictly in the war room. It only takes an inadvertant slip by someone and everybody in the industry would find out. It’s not just the network operators that it would upset but also certain manufacturers would not look on it too kindly either, especially if some of their agents were involved at the bottom level. we would obviuosly have to be careful with Electrue as well especially if they are setting on a Network Manager. Also whats Mr Harrisons job going to be at Whirlpool?

KeymasterFor the moment it is. What I was meaning was asking something like, “Would you be interested in taking part in a national network of indepenent repairers knowing that there may be a small cost involved in the running of it?” Or something as generic as that.
If they find out, so what? Blame me! There’s not really one of the big boys that can hurt you guys that will be able to touch me after that it’s only a business decision on the part of the agent. 😉 Not only that the whole Whitegoods thing is the ideal masthead to plant there for the idea, then they think it is me that’s doing it and not DASA, therefore it’s divorced from you guys and I’m regarded as a bit of a maverick anyway for some strange reason. 😆
Smoke and mirrors, they do it to us and I was always taught to do unto others… 😈
Darren is “reputedly” out to get third party work, in other words, steal NESN’s business, but I don’t know how well that will go. You of all people should be only too aware of how well that panned out for Service Force and, that aside, GDA! 😉
Quite simply, not a viable proposition IMO, but they’ll all have a go at it, it won’t work and it’ll all come back around again in it’s usual cyclic pattern and the losers will be us as ever no doubt. 🙁

Quite interesting that dh is being signed on to generate £1.5 million in 3rd party sales, which generates his wages(a tidy sum)
Whirlpool are quite aware that their own network is not capable of doing all this work and I think(no insider knowledge)there will be oportunities for others.Whirlpool are about to supply me with appliances to start training engineers for them and have asked me to name my price!
JP suggests £350.00 per day. What do others think?
Whirlpool have expressed an intrest of the work we undertook for MFI and have already referred 2 service partners to me who were looking for help on their areas.
There is more to come from all this and for the moment I agree with “flipper” we should keep as much in house as we can.I will try to steer all whirlpool enquiries to our best advantage.

KeymasterHmm, 1.5M in sales, hmm. Is that out there without attacking bigger contracts like Coverplan I wonder?
I’m glad Whirlpool realise that they would not probably be able to cope with third-party work entirely in-house.
I’d go with the £350 a day, seems reasonable enough unless it’s an extended course. Or the cost of an engineer’s time per day, but it all comes down to numbers really I’d say, without that pricing it would be a nightmare.
Okay, points taken re getting this out but we really need to get ourselves organised on this and get the jump on the competition.
