…a fridge which works on the evaporative system rather than the usual motor and compressor? I’ve been after one for ages for home (because they’re quiet and I’d like one for my AV room (when I get round to doing it) but we also had one in the office at work which recently seems to have died and we’d like to replace it.
I keep looking around the various chillers and stuff in the usual places but they’re all motor and compressor based and they’re generally just a bit too noisy…

The’re called “absorpsion” fridges and generally only available these days for use in Mobile Homes, Camper Vans etc. as they operate without a compressor using low wattage electric heating elements instead.
Electrolux manufacture a range for this specialist market and are readily available, however their capacity is rather small, smaller than the more usual domestic ones anyway.

As Martin has rightly said Electrolux do produce these, however I cannot find them on website but you can post e mail here http://www.electrolux.co.uk for further info. Beko also produce same on
http://www.beko.co.uk click on quicksearch scroll down to MR52 which is

Electrolux sold off the Leisure wing but I cannot remember what it changed it’s name to. If you call in to your local caravan specialist/Dealer I dare say the will have a sales sheet. I think the biggest fridge is 75 litre
