Hmmm. I thought that I’d place our upright freezer (maybe a combined freezer/fridge – but primarily freezer) into the pantry next to the kitchen.
Having read enough on this site to worry me, I’m now having second thoughts…
The pantry is supposed to be unheated throughout the year – but should never get to freezing point. It gets very cold (-30 deg C) to very hot (+35 deg C) here.
In winter it could get pretty cold – as in don’t keep bananas in there. Would this sort of temperature be detrimental to the freezer ?
In summer – it shouldn’t get too warm – maybe about 20 deg, but with a freezer pushing out extra heat, is the room going to suddenly get too hot to be a pantry ?
What is the recommended operating range of a normal 200 litre freezer or fridge/freezer combo ?
What is the heat output of such a freezer when operating in a warm environment in kWh or BTUs ?
Unfortunately, I can imaging that the freezer door would be opened reasonably regularly (2 or 3 times a day at least).
Thanks again,
Iain Scurrah.
