ParticipantI was going to post this as a news article, but decided against it for now as I feel many of the findings are worthy of comment in here.
It is based on the findings of a reliability survey by Which magazine.
This is one of the articles copied from a newspaper:
HOW THEY COMPARE
Upright vacuum cleaners
Best were Sebo, Hitachi, Oreck, Panasonic and Electrolux; Average was Hoover, right; Worst was Dyson.
Washing machines
Best were Tricity Bendix, Miele, Bosch and AEG; Average were Candy, Zanussi/Zanussi- Electrolux, Siemens, Whirlpool and Creda; Worst were Indesit, Servis, Hotpoint, Hoover and Ariston.
Cylinder vacuum cleaners
Best were Morphy Richards, right, Bosch, Numatic and Miele; Average were Goblin, Electrolux, Panasonic and Hoover; Worst was Dyson.
Tumble driers
Best were Miele and Servis; Average were Tricity Bendix, Bosch, Creda, Crusader, Hotpoint, White Knight, Whirlpool, right, Zanussi/Zanussi- Electrolux and AEG; Worst was Hoover.
Dishwashers
Best were Neff and Bosch; Average were Candy, Miele, AEG, Hotpoint, Zanussi/Zanussi-Electrolux, Hoover, Siemens, Tricity, Bendix, Whirlpool, Smeg, Ariston. Worst was Indesit.
Washer-driers
Best Buy were Bosch, Zanussi/Zanussi- Electrolux, Whirlpool, Hotpoint, right, Indesit; Worst was Hoover.
This is only the main points.

Are they having a laugh with this?
I’d love to know how that Which calculates these figures but just on the face of it those reccommendations back up what I found years ago with Which and that is that they have no technical knowledge and the “Best Buys” are based solely on information fed back to them from consumers.
They ought to learn to take the lid off and play “spot the difference”.
The tumble dryer best buy made me chuckle though. 😉

I have already had two people in today both armed with copy of the Daily Express who have also run this report. One tried it on by saying ” what is the best upright cleaner I can buy”? To which I replied “The best engineered and best spec I can offer in a bagged machine is the Sebo”
The reply I recieved was “thats okay then I was just checking” and he produces report from pocket.Cheeky so and so. Anyway after a chat he`s bringing in management to discuss options of different Sebo`s. The other was put off by the price tag and is now going for a Panasonic.Oh how I love these reports 😈

………….and another thing……………”WHICH” have for years been the guiding light for ten of thousands of potential consumers, year in year out. It is incredible how its readers take all their reports to heart especially with regard to Whitegoods.
It will always remain a mystery to me why they recommend certain diabolically bad products, and how they base their assumptions and come to these outlandish conclusions?
Do you remember the old training video with John Cleese (It goes back a bit so you youngters do try to catch up!)..anyway his first comment when calling at a customers house to fix a washing machine was…”who sold you this then?”….Todays likely reply would be,….. “can’t remember but WHICH recommended it!”
I hate to say it but for those of us that retail new products, it would be wise to subscribe to Which to be one step ahead of those ‘anoracks’ that come into your shop armed with a copy. Forearmed is forwarned so they say!
If only they would recommend the best cliff to jump off? No doubt in my mind….BEACHY HEAD!

Tricity Bendix best while Electrolux/Zanussi only average? someone should tell them something!
Best were Miele and Servis;
Servis or Miele? oh! I cant make up my mind which is best here.
Dishwashers
Best were Neff and Bosch; Average were Candy, Miele, AEG, Hotpoint, Zanussi/Zanussi-Electrolux, Hoover, Siemens, Tricity, Bendix, Whirlpool, Smeg, Ariston. Worst was Indesit.
Siemens only average yet Neff and Bosch the best. at least they got the worst one right on this one.

To give “which” there due, they did recently contact all dasa members for their views on washer driers. Did you reply? I assume though that is not related to this survey.
