ParticipantHi,
My first post here and after some advice.
I’m looking to buy a chest freezer, 14 cuft capacity, but there doesn’t seem to be a particularly large choice. High street chain retailers don’t have much of a range.
Any suggestions ? ‘A’ rated preferred.
Also suggestions for retailers in the Surrey / Hampshire area appreciated too.
Thanks,
Tim H.

ParticipantTim, here are some models I can find:
The closest match is the Bosch GTA37900 13.5 cu ft A rated
A couple of others are:
Zanussi ZFC146C 14.6 cu ft C rated
Whirlpool ARC5270 11.4 cu ft B ratedAs you say there aren’t many available these days as this is a low turnover product.
Hope this may be of some help though.

KeymasterDave,
Thanks for the suggestions I’ll look into them a bit further.
I’m happy with both Bosch and Zanussi brands – any comments on reliability, build quality etc. ?
Cheers,
TimH.

KeymasterMuch of a muchness really Tim IMO. The only thing to watch for with big chest freezers these days is putting them in the garage etc as many are now far more suseptable to ambient temperature than they once were as the insulation is generally thinner these days. It can lead to problems with them all I’m afraid, generally the first sign of trouble is condensation or a pool of water on the outside of the machine.

ParticipantAs far as build quality and reliability go I am unable to comment, but as a personal opinion, due to the small price difference the Bosch would be the better option, because of it’s energy rating, which, in time should save you the extra expense on your ‘leccy bill.

ParticipantKen, Dave,
Thanks for the replies. Will do some further investigation and report back which one I go for. I will also try to put a review together once we’ve lived with it for a bit. (I’ll also do that other review that I promised you Ken, I hadn’t forgotten 😉 )
FYI, it will be going in an attached garage – I guess this should push me towards the higher-rated Bosch.
Thanks guys,
Tim H.
