ParticipantJust wondering what dishwashers people are recommending to customers nowadays.
When asked I find myself saying um a lot and pulling faces.
They all seem blighted by some weakness(es) or other, and all have generally poor build quality.
Percentage of time spent on dishwasher repairs in recent years has risen sharply.
Used to recommend Bosch group higher end and Zanussi group mid range, but think that’s all changed now.January 17, 2019 at 5:29 pm #460017grooster
ParticipantI’ve found myself in the same boat with customers. I literally don’t know what to recommend these days. I used to say Bosch group for everything, now i’m just not sure about their dishwashers. So many heat pumps and drain pump problems. I dont like saying it, but I dont think the Beko ones are too bad, but I probably wouldn’t recommend them.

ParticipantThanks Grooster, I’ve thought the same myself re the Bekos but then pinch myself for thinking it!
I thought Beko were in the business of making cheap machines for other people, but lately I’ve got the impression that Beko have got someone to make a cheap dishwasher for themselves.
There’s a lot of machines floating in the mire around the bottom rung of the ladder and none seem much better than the others.
Why not go the cheapest, so long as you can give some spares backup afterwards.Although there was some interesting thing I heard on Radio 4 earlier this week about more pressure to be brought on manufacturers to bring up quality. (Heard that before).
Big joke really- hasn’t happened yet. but as far as the principle goes, bring it on!!!January 17, 2019 at 8:40 pm #460019electrofix
Moderatorwhen you factor in the 2 year guarantee for integrated appliances its a good deal

ParticipantIt is not all doom and gloom. We always despair at the reliability of the lastest machines, but I guarantee, in 10 to 15 years time, we’ll be singing their praises. Beko are good for the price, but cable management in the door is a weak point. Dare I say it, the latest platforms from Midea and Haier look surprisingly solid. Hotpoint/Indesit/Whirlpool are also not bad these days. Zanussi/AEG are pretty decent, now that the pressure sensor issue has been resolved. Bosch/Siemens/Neff are pretty good, if you avoid the mainstream plastic tubbed versions, which are prone to leakage. For the best durability and performance, choose Miele, the only volume manufacturer not to have compromised on engineering quality.

ParticipantVery fair comments, and thanks for helpful opinions.
They’re generally all poor compared to a decade or so ago, perhaps granting the exception of Miele.
I struggle to imagine a turn in the tide, but I like the positivity!January 18, 2019 at 9:39 am #460022don
ModeratorI go with Beko. Sharp (same as Beko) if registered with Warranty Solutions a five year guarantee is on offer. Bosh Series 4 and up. Whirlpool which is better than better than Hotpoint and Indesit.

ParticipantSadly Whirpool’s current dishwasher range seems to comprise rebranded Indesit/Hotpoint machines. I’m assuming they decommissioned the old Whirlpool dishwasher priduction line a year or two back to reduce costs.

ParticipantSharp is a Vestel brand – similar design details to their Turkish rival Beko, and arguably similar durability, but relatively limited parts availability.
