I’m starting to spec a new kitchen, and I need to work out how much space to leave for the fridge/freezer. I had been thinking of one of the Whirlpool American models, but I am wondering if I would do better to get separate fridge and freezer for long term reliability and/or ease of replacement. I saw a paired Liebherr larder fridge and fridge/freezer on eBay which looked like an interesting idea. We definitely need a LOT of fridge space; freezer is less used. Price is a major point – no way can I afford Miele/Bosch!

    Thoughts?

The american side by side is as reliable as any seperates. Try http://www.365electrical.com for a whirlpool.

Thanks – that’s good to know, because I had gathered that Whirlpool are not the most reliable.

A further question – assuming I will have to replace whatever fridge/combo I buy, would you expect that models will be wider in a few years time? (I expect the units to last a lot longer, and it could be a real pain to have to replace one.)
