ParticipantThe baring has gone on our Hotpoint BHWM129 integrated washing machine after just 3 years. I’ve been trawling through the internet for a reliable, basic replacement that will last much longer than this and, after many hours, don’t really feel much wiser.
There’s only 2 of us in the household so its not been overworked. It was a Which? best buy option and cost us just under £300, I think.
Any help from any of you wise heads out there would be greatly appreciated! I wish I’d found this website 3 years ago…

Hi
You could have the Hotpoint repaired as you have a 5 year parts warranty. You pay the labour only charge which is around the £110 mark. You will need your original proof of purchase to show the engineer.
Replacing it? You have two choices either replace like for like with an integrated machine or you remove what’s there, cut through the plinth and install a freestanding one, this option could spoil the “look” of the kitchen but will give you a greater choice of product.
Either way for reliability and longevity of life you will need to up the budget. The Zanussi, Bosch or AEG here at AO or the Bosch over £350 😉 , AEG or Miele here in the freestanding range.
HTH 😀

A belated thanks for your good advice, Don.
We’ve decided to go for a Bosch. However, I have another question. The Howdens washing machine housing currently fits our defunct Hotpoint which has a depth of 55cm and the Bosch has a depth of 57cm. I can’t really get a tape measure underneath to see if it fits. Are all integrated machine made to fit all commercial kitchens? Am i right to be concerned?
Thanks, Robin.

Hi
The only way to be sure is to remove the old Hotpoint machine which easy to do and have a measure.
Bear in mind that when fitting the new Bosch machine you will need to fill the old hinge holes and recore the new hinges onto the timber door.
