    Hi

We’re moving into a house in a couple of weeks and we’re trying to get an idea of which fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer but I’m going around in circles and not getting anywhere! I should say I’ve been looking mostly at John Lewis, partly because my better half feels safer buying from them, but also it just helps searching in one place.

Washing machine – space available: depth 58cm, width 62cm, height 85cm
We usually do roughly 4 washes a week, would be nice to be able to do duvets including king size. Quality, simplicity and reliability matter more than being flash.

Fridge freezer – space available: depth up to 70cm (though at that depth it would stick out), width up to 59cm, height?
It seems that the width available limits us.
The freezer will be used quite a bit. Again we’d like to choose a simple but reliable machine, we don’t need things like water dispenser, meat/dairy/egg specific things.
There seems to be a difference of opinion between frost free and old fashioned frost types? One model we looked at was a Liebherr CUN3033-22 but the comments seemed to point to it being unreliable and the customer service from Liebherr being poor, I seem to remember that there goods can be problematic but also seeing them recommended? Also a lot in that size range seem to be integrated, sorry for seeming stupid but does that rule them out as free standing?

    Tumble dryer:
We are looking to place this in a spare room as no room in the kitchen. No specific requirements apart from, as before, simplicity, quality and reliability being more important than bells and whistles…

With all we’d like good, simple, efficient machines that should hopefully last and if there are problems there is good back up. Budget is flexible, maybe up to £2-2.5k for all three but obviously good value would be a bonus.

Sorry for the length of my ramble but thanks for any advice, if anything needs clarifying please ask…

Re: which slimline fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble d

as you say you can go round in circles there are so may makes and types of machines to choose from but
in my opinion things lie as follows
top of the tree Miele good solid german engineering quiet and dependable
second Bosch only problem is you have to avoid the budget models
third Zanussi which also includes Aeg, tricity bendix and as far as i know john lewis own brand but again beware of the budget models

the one thig for all these machines is should they fail t any time all the spares are available and in the case of miele they expect a long life so we can still get spares for machines over 1 years old

    hope it helps

    thanks Dave

I’ve just been informed that our budget to get a fridge/freezer and washing machine should by £1,000 – total breakdown in communication!

you could go budget on the tumble dryer. White Knight are a budget brand made in halifax. door are a bit flimsy but all in all a well built unit based on a 20 year old whirlpool design. in fact bosch used them to produce one of their models some time ago
in my opinin will outlast both hotpoint and hoover anyday

    anyome have views on Liebherr?
This thread seems to recommend them. Would be interesting to know, especially as they do seem to have a few 55cm model fridge freezers

Was wondering about this entry level Miele (cashback takes it to £575)
    http://www.johnlewis.com/miele-wda110-w … e/p1509051

Or this lower level Bosch (which with cashback comes to £360)

as for fridge was wondering about this Liebherr CUN3033-22
    http://www.johnlewis.com/liebherr-cun30 … p231577373

    The reviews seem pretty polarised on the John Lewis page and even a couple of bad to middling reviews on Which but it does score 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

The range between up to 59cm seems pretty limited

    Hi

Liebherr is regarded very highly within the industry as being the best. They also produce Miele refrigeration.

The construction is extremely good as is the finish.

    HTH 🙂

cheers Don, I thought I’d read on here that they were good. Was just a little concerned about the number of breakdowns in the reviews of this model…

just a quick bump to ask if anyone has any particular view on the Liebherr CUN3033, especially the number of bad reviews?

Also, the Miele washing machine looks like it will be too tall (85cm and there is only 85cm to spare), I’m guessing you need some leeway or else you’d be greasing it to get it in! So thinking of the Bosch WAQ283S1GB which I guess is mid range?
