I know what you mean, I bet 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of houses I go to have a Dyson, the other 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} usually have some piece of Chinese junk or Hoover /Electrolux. Very few have bagged vacuums anymore. I have never come across a house with a Sebo (what I recommend) although I do see the occasional Henry.
Sadly Dyson must have the mass market share. 😥

Perhaps time for you to buy a Henry to clean the driers!!! 😈

I am lucky enough to work in a wealthy area so I do get to use a Sebo or Miele every so often.

The Hetty they use in my gym is useless, a 90 year old could do better with false teeth in.

A world of Dyson in Brighouse, Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford!

I bet you see more Dysons than anything else! :rolls:

I often get asked why carpets get dirty and the type of vacuum plays a big part, customers do not like to hear me telling them its their Dyson, makes you wonder why they ask when they don’t like the answer. 😕 .

Henrys are excellent also, the one at your Gym Madrat must be blocked or permanantly used on the low power setting! We also have a Henry for the mucky jobs etc. and it sucks brilliantly.

It does sound like it HWL as the spec on the Hetty is exactly the same as the Henry in performance. Could be that the bag is overfull or the filter/ hose is blocked or as you say it`s just on the lower suction setting.

Might be using it without a bag. I know alot of people used to do this, but the instructions do advise against it. I know a cleaning co. with hundreds of the things and all used with no bag. The performance is very bad, very quick suction loss. I use mine with a bag though!

    Re: Which Vacuum Cleaner?

Hi there, back again!! Right I did mean to place an update on here once I’d made my punt for a new vacuum cleaner but unfortunately I never got round to buying one until 2 months ago (due to finances etc..), sorry 😥

So I thought I’d come on and update you with how pleased I am with the Sebo X4 Extra I bought over a month ago, how well it cleans, how quiet it is in comparison to my old vacuum, when………………………. my fiancee decides to shoot me down and tell me I have to buy another vacuum as she absolutely hates it.

The reason? The infuriating way that the vacuum falls over when using the hose, and the fact that when it falls it has a tendency to hit her straight in the head (she tends to kneel down rather than bend her back when using the hose). Now I tried to explain that she may have to adjust her technique now (as I have) to no avail and also explain that despite the 1 design flaw its a great product but again, no joy. So it has to go I’m afraid, I can’t argue this one unfortunately!!. Therefore I’m after 2 bits of advice really guys if you could so kindly help restore domestic bliss? !!!

    1) What should I buy instead? I’m thinking cylinder (Sebo D2-4 or K3-4) or a Miele S7 upright or cylinder. Really liking the look of the Sebo D4 actually, how do cylinders/uprights compare in terms of performance?

    2) Can I return my Sebo X4 Extra now its over 2 months old or am I stuck with having to sell it privately now?

Cheers for your help as ever guys:)

You may find in years to come that it would have been better to change your fiancee. 😉 😆

As a married man of almost 40 years I am speaking from experience. :rolls:

I have a recent SEBO X4 Extra, thankfully the wife loves it. 8)

Nothing will come close to the performance of a Sebo X4. The cylinders with power heads will be OK, but not quite on a par with uprights.

The Extra has a long hose so she must be pulling it too hard so it falls over.

My Mrs. to be loves our Sebo’s and my Mum (hardest woman to please in the world!) loves hers………probabley because I bought them for her!

    PS. Nice signature Jim!!

    Hi drummonkey,

Oliver is spot-on here, you will be losing out on performance whatever you choose next.

Any upright will tip if used tugged overzealously, but the superior job the Sebo X4 does makes it worth the extra care to avoid this. I also doubt very much if you will able to return the X4 now anyhow.

I would tell you fiancee to stick with the Sebo X4 and wear a crash helmet! 😆

    Best wishes

She’s not using it properly…..domestic goddess training required. 😉

Higher-water-level wrote:The Extra has a long hose so she must be pulling it too hard so it falls over.

Part of the domestic goddess course is learning “How to use the extension hose so the vac doesn’t fall on your head routine.”

It’s a 4 hour course and involves having to physically vacuum the whole house/flat/apartment. Giving advice along the way such as “How to avoid sucking up the budgerigar”….. “How to vac around your partner asleep in the armchair”….. “What attachment to use in order to clean the curtains without sucking up the wallpaper” and “Quick and easy method of cleaning the car whilst the old man is watching the match on telly”

All of this comes part of the whole package when you by a Sebo……it’s the way forward for any right-minded person. Trust me. 😈
