ParticipantHello
I have a Hotpoint Electronic 800 Deluxe 9526 that I bought with my house some 3 years ago- no idea how old it is but it looks old- it does however work ok. I have recently been given a White-Westinghouse washer- I cant find a model or serial number except for 02-2001/71/07fd 7507 00100 on the inside of the door (which could be part number for the door for all i know 😕 ).
I havent tested it yet but it looks in good order and alot newer than the Hotpoint. I’ve not heard of the WW brand before. I dont have space to keep one as a spare- so assuming the ww works- which do I keep? Thanks for your thoughts

KeymasterTough choice, but if it helps any the WW is almost certainly made by a company called Siltal. Let’s just say I don’t rate Siltal machines. 😉

9526 was introduced in Sept 1993, still thousands of them still going strong. 🙂

Thanks alot for the advise-
Jim- the previous owners of the house built the kitchen/utility extention in 1993 so if that’s when the 9526 was introduced they probably bought it then.
K- just the sort of inside knowledge it was hoping for.
Looks like I might just keep the Hotpoint.
BTW- with the hotpoint the hot water fill wont wash the powder or tablets from the tray properly- someone has “fixed” this by conecting both feeds to the cold mains which washes it though fine but then takes a while to warm up. Do you think this is a machine problem or just not enough pressure /head on the hot water?

KeymasterThere’s stuff in the Articles & Help section all about hot & cold fill if you have a poke about, but basically it’s not really worth the trouble for most situations IMO.

If and when you do come to replace it then virtually all modern machines are cold fill only. One of the biggest complaints we get about machines made in the past 5 or 6 years is the greatly extended wash times, so sooner or later you will have no choice. 😉 Modern detergents work better from cold anyway.
