I’m shortly going to have to replace my 13 year old Bosch as the programme control knob is on it’s way out so it’s not cost effective.

Am thinking about the cheapest Miele as we can’t afford an ISE. Would this be the best one to go for or another Bosch. Also, we use a local Euronics store and they have Gorenje in which I’ve never heard of.

    Thank you for any advice.

How often do you use the machine?
Would say average is once a day
How many people’s clothes does it wash?
3 adults at home plus my daughters and her partners plus new baby in March
Are there any special needs (skin conditions or suchlike)?
Excema so sometimes will do an extra rinse
What sort of floor is it installed on?
Think this are of kitchen is concrete floor. Not had problems with other machines moving anyway
Do you line dry wherever possible?
    Yes

Consider how much will be used then.

With that lot, two or three loads a day is going to be the norm I’d imagine so, you need something robust.

Gorenje forget, not up to it.

Bosch, maybe the higher spec ones but with the above, don’t expect to get anything like 13 years.

LG, max five years and, I do mean max, with that use the bearings will go.

Most of the rest under about £5-600 will reap the same or similar results.

    Hi Spewy

With Bosch Exxcel and Logixx machines for a limited period only they are offering a four year guarantee and an energy cashback in celebration of being in business for 125 years. Could be worth a look.

Thank you everyone 🙂 Washing machine still working at the moment but I like to research loads.

What are Siemens like as someone has told me they are next one down from Miele now.

Don, sorry not that Spewy. Lived in the North West nearly all of my life.

Siemens is the next offering up from Bosch (same manufacturing group). They do have higher spec, increased features and price. It will have around the same life span as the Bosch based on your proposed usage.

    Me again 😳

Would I be best going for a Miele then. I assume there are no ISE stockists who offer interest free credit. Think this would be the only way I could get husband to agree to spending £1000 on a washing machine.

    Hi spewy

You need to look at the whole package to be able to compare Miele to ISE.

Miele W1613 (base machine) 6kg 1300 spin at around £719 with a two year warranty. ISE 1607W 8kg 1600 spin at £949 delivered with a full 10 year warranty. If you were to extend the Miele to 5years it would add another £220 odd so you would be at £940 but with still only half the guarantee.

Then there is the service issue, Miele do tend to keep the technical info to their own service partners so the majority of independant engineers have no choice but to decline a service call in most cases. With ISE the service is carried by local service engineers and in most cases it will be the same one who installed the appliance in the first instance.

The cost of Miele spares are far more expensive than ISE as well making a repair more viable in some instances than Miele.

Pound for pound I would go with the ISE every time even if I had to take out a small bank loan or overdraft.

    HTH 🙂

Thanks Don 🙂 That helps a lot as I’d not thought of the repair issue at all.

Apart from a new pump a few years ago I’ve only ever needed to have brushes replaced on my current one.

Think I will see if I can start squirreling some away.
