Which way does the cold water pipe go

I bought a new hotpoint washing machine but does it matter if the angled part of the cold water hose goes on the machine or on the cold water pipe.

The angled connector should go on the back of the machine, this allows the pipe to drop down from the back without being bent at right angles when the machine is pushed back.

Over the years I’ve always put the angled part on the washing machine but is there any reason why it has to go this way. The reason way I ask is because when the council did the plumbing they put the washing machine valve connector in the wrong place so they took the pipe off the machine and put the angle part on the water pipe valve connector otherwise the pipe would kink and stop the flow of water.

Well for “the Council” then as they avoided the hose kink. Whichever way suits the specific location is the way forward.

The way forward is for plumbers etc to be less incompetent. The’correct’ way is to fit the angled end to the washer, fitting the wrong way is just a bodge that often leads to leaks sooner or later.

I pulled the old machine out and I can see that you’re right about the angled connector should go on the back of the machine. The way the council put the pipe on it put’s pressure on the connector on the back of the machine when it’s pushed back.
